When does Codex reset?

The short answer

There is no single public reset clock that applies to every Codex user. Your available Codex usage depends on the ChatGPT plan and the product surface you use. When your limit is reached, use the usage message in Codex or ChatGPT as the account-specific source of truth.

OpenAI can change plans, limits, and availability. The current plan descriptions are on the official Codex pricing page, and OpenAI's help center has the Codex in ChatGPT guide.

Personal usage versus a public reset record

These are different things:

• Personal usage window: the limit and remaining time shown for your account. It can depend on your plan, recent activity, model or task, and product changes. Only the product can show your current countdown.
• Public reset record: an announced or observed event collected by WhenReset. It may describe a broad rollout, a plan-specific change, or a banked credit. It does not read your account and does not promise that your limit will return at that time.

WhenReset records public events in UTC. Check the Codex reset history for dates and scope, and the usage-limit guides for updates. A time passing in a public record does not prove that an individual account received a reset.

What to check when Codex is unavailable

1. Read the limit or usage message in the Codex or ChatGPT product.
2. Confirm that you are using the intended account and plan.
3. Check OpenAI's current help and pricing pages for a plan or product change.
4. Treat third-party countdowns as estimates unless they cite a dated OpenAI announcement.
