When does Claude reset?

How Claude usage windows and weekly limits work, and how to check your account's actual reset time.

The short answer

Claude does not have one reset time for every user. The number of messages you can send varies by plan. Claude's official help center says that message length, attachment size, conversation length, tools such as Research or web search, model choice, and effort level can also affect usage.

For your account, open Settings > Usage. Claude says this page shows progress for the five-hour session limit and weekly limits, including the remaining time for the current session and the weekly reset timing for Opus and other models. The official usage limit best practices guide is the current source for those details.

Personal usage versus a public reset record

  • Personal usage window: the session and weekly progress shown for your plan in Claude. It is account-specific and can change with usage and plan rules.
  • Public reset record: an announced or observed event collected by WhenReset. It can be limited to an affected plan or group, and it cannot read your Claude account.

Use the Claude reset history to inspect the dates and scope of public records. A record is not a promise that your own session or weekly allowance will reset then. WhenReset does not provide future Claude reset plans or calculate a personal countdown.

If Claude says you have reached a limit

Check Settings > Usage, then review the plan and model shown there. Reduce unnecessary back-and-forth, long attachments, or tool-heavy work if appropriate. If the product displays a specific remaining time, use that value; do not substitute a fixed daily reset time.
